This Annapolis meeting at the Sheraton Barcelo.
It was our first meeting in Annapolis, and all agreed
that the food and facilities were first rate. In
spite of random sniper attacks that were still occurring
in the area, over 60 members gathered to hear ICA
Executive Director Mark Thorsby speak. Also in attendance
was ICA Treasurer Elect and future ICA President,
Jack Anthony. The drought situation in Charlottesville
once again took center stage in pre-dinner conversations.
After dinner, Mark Thorsby brought members up to
speed on the changes occurring in our industry and
in the ICA. Of particular interest to attendees
was the release of the ICA’s “Water
Use in the Professional Car Wash” study, authored
by water expert Chris Brown. Thorsby clarified the
ICA’s switch in focus from a member driven
association to an industry driven association. He
assured the audience that the ICA was not abandoning
its members, merely focusing its efforts on projects
that would benefit the industry and ICA members
at the same time.
